Earlier this week, there was an alert to update your iPhone to the new iOS 9. If you’ve already updated, there’s a setting that may cost you a few hundred dollars extra, this month, if you don’t manually turn it off.
The iOS 9 update will automatically turn on the “Wi-Fi Assist”, which can be found under your phone’s settings.
You have nothing to be concerned with, if you have an unlimited data plan. However, the function of the setting is to automatically switch your phone from using Wi-Fi to using the cellular data of your wireless plan, when the Wi-Fi connection either disconnects or becomes weak.
How to turn that “Wi-Fi Assist” off:
1. Click “Settings”
2. Click “Cellular”.
3. Scroll to the very bottom and switch your “Wi-Fi Assist” from on to off.
