SEATTLE (CBS Seattle) – It may not be Siri in your sedan, but soon you may have Cortana in your coupe.
It’s still just a concept for now, but according to The Verge, Microsoft is designing a hologram that projects Cortana onto a car windshield.
Cortana is Microsoft’s answer to Siri: a voice activated digital assistant that was introduced with Windows 10.
Samuel Shen, chief operating officer at Microsoft Asia-Pacific Research, told the Taipei Times the conceptual project would allow drivers to make restaurant reservations through their windshield or project a virtual map to guide them to their destinations.
“We have not launched similar products due to the high cost, but we hope to have further discussions with Taiwanese partners to jointly explore future possibilities,” said Shen.
Microsoft is no stranger to working with the auto industry. Ford, Kia, BMW, Nissan, and Fiat have all used modified versions of Windows to run their computer systems.
